Exploring alternatives to chemical products in soil management

Vittorio Rossi is a full Professor at the Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore in Italy and is co-cordinator of Work Package 4 of NOVATERRA. Establishing a robust connection between research and practical agriculture is very important and participation in NOVATERRA project offers a unique opportunity to build a vast network of researchers, companies, and farmers spanning across Europe.

Within Work Package 4 (WP4), the primary focus is to explore alternatives to chemical products, encompassing both fertilizers and pesticides, in soil management. The objective is to investigate innovative approaches for soil management in vineyards and olive crops that reduce reliance on chemicals, enhance biodiversity, and promote sustainable control of pests and diseases.

Embracing these sustainable practices is pivotal for the future of agriculture. However, it is essential to provide farmers with reliable solutions that can be readily implemented in their operations. This project represents a significant step toward achieving a more sustainable agricultural future.
