D1.5 Best Practice Guide Ethics and Social Implications for NOVATERRA

This document provides good practice guidelines for NOVATERRA consortium members concerning research design and implementation of ethical standards, although detailed keysteps and procedures, and key aspects of data collection, including sampling, participant recruitment and community involvement are developed in other documents such as the Data Management Plan, or in deliverables D9.1 to D9.4 of WP9, which address requirements set in the Ethics Evaluation before the signature of the Grant Agreement and to be fulfilled after the Grant Agreement. The procedures essential to ensure that of activities of this project are compliant with ethical requirements related to the guidelines of Horizon 2020 projects are also covered.

This includes the general data protection requirements to be considered in the pilot tests and stakeholders consulting as well as the informed consent procedures for participation in surveys, interviews, meetings and dissemination activities organized by the project; the compliance of animal welfare regulations and guidelines if applicable; and the observance of local and national regulations for Environmental Protection and Safety.

In conclusion, D1.5 is a Guide to Ethic aspects treated in the different deliverables of WP9. It also contains a list of expected impacts of Project’s solutions on social aspects, and related Key Performance Indicators, whose evolution will be monitored along the project and reported in WP8.4.
