Since 2009, the European Union has made significant efforts to reduce the use of plant protection products (PPP) in agriculture and to replace them with alternative solutions. Their environmental and health impact is in fact more and more recognized and is now a societal issue as strong as the issues of agricultural production.
Among the different crops to be addressed, the vine and the olive are major productions in Europe, and more particularly in Mediterranean Europe. As innovations and research advances related to the identification of solutions to reduce the use of PPPs, stakeholders’ insights need to be considered in the development of these innovations.
This report therefore presents, on the one hand, a summary of the drivers for adoption of technical solutions and, on the other hand, a list of recommendations to encourage adoption of the solutions developed under the project.
This report will enrich the reflections of the NOVATERRA project in relation to its objective of developing new innovative and sustainable strategies in agricultural practices for vine and olive crops.
