Addressing the rising demand for sustainable food: Insights from Sogrape’s Head of R&D

Antonio Graça, head of Sogrape’s research and development department and a member of the NOVATERRA consortium, recently discussed NOVATERRA’s mission to enhance sustainability in wine and olive production.

NOVATERRA distinguishes itself through its comprehensive and collaborative approach. Rather than starting from scratch, the project capitalises on existing knowledge and best practices, as well as input from stakeholders on the field, including farmers and companies like Sogrape.

A core objective of NOVATERRA is to optimise the entire value chain, from farming practices to consumer markets. As consumers place growing importance on sustainability and quality, the demand for agricultural products meeting high-level standards continues to rise. Antonio Graça stresses the importance of meeting this demand while upholding food safety and environmental sustainability throughout the production process.
