Pioneering sustainable viticulture through NOVATERRA trials

Meet Romain Angelras, a passionate wine producer from the Nîmes region in France and owner of the ‘Domaine du Petit Romain’. With the support of the French Wine and Vine Institute (IFV), a member of the NOVATERRA consortium, Romain has embarked on a stimulating journey as part of NOVATERRA. He pioneered trials using ozonated water on small vineyard plots affected by downy mildew and powdery mildew. Collaborating closely with IFV, they’ve meticulously outlined trial methods and implementation processes.

These trials receive regular supervision from the IFV team, ensuring precise application tailored to prevailing weather conditions and disease progression. For Romain, this project isn’t just about experimentation – it’s about transforming his business for more resilience and sustainability. He views it as an invaluable opportunity to glean insights into best practices and draw lessons for the future.
